Easy to read resource. Would love if the prices were closer to what students can expect to pay in a cafe to give them a clearer understanding of realistic prices, meal cost and spending money. However, as an introduction to reading menus it is a good resource.

Hi there suzann1362,
We've made this resource for you and it will be ready to download very soon. It will be available from either the 'Other versions' box above, or as a whole new resource. I hope you find it useful!
Use these café menus for a fun and realistic Maths exercise.
This resource has three menus, each with a list of items and its price in Australian dollars. The three menus include drinks, food and dessert. Each poster has lovely hand-drawn illustrations of icecreams, cakes, sandwiches and more.
You can use these menus to pretend your children are in a real cafe. You can nominate your children to play either the customer or the server. Equip them with some paper money that they can use to buy food and drinks of their choice, and allow them to figure out how much they owe.
Use the editable version, so you can insert your children's favourite foods or alter the prices to suit your children's needs.
At Twinkl, we have resources for helping children improve their numeracy in a range of contexts. Take a look at what’s on offer:
Role play is a helpful activity for a number of reasons. It can be a new and exciting way to approach a subject like Maths. Children will feel more engaged in using their mental arithmetic when knowing that the result will be ordering a lovely cupcake.
It’s also great for their classroom confidence. Social activities such as role-play get them to interact with their classmates while they build their security in speaking and acting for themselves.
