Box Score 2 VILLANOVA— Villanova dropped two BIG EAST matchups this weekend against Georgetown on the road and St. John's at home.
Georgetown 6 Villanova 1
Doubles
Sophomores
Emi Callahan and
Maggie Gehrig took on the one spot for Villanova. The duo fell 6-2 to Bendetti and Ashton.
Miriam Gondorova and
Lauren Monti fell 6-1. The freshmen took on Garafolo-Ro and Kennedy.
Jenna Stevens and
Bella Steffen were up 4-3 in their match against Gilbert and Novikow before the match ended in a DNF.
Singles
In the one spot Gehrig took on Bendetti. The sophomore fell 6-3, 6-0.
Gondorova fell in a tiebreaker in the second set to Novikov. After losing the first set 6-3, Miriam battled in the second. Unfortunately, the match did not go her way, losing 7-6 (7-4).
Jenna Stevens was in the third position for Villanova. She would fall in her singles match to Willy, 6-0, 6-2.
In the fourth spot
Lauren Monti picked up the lone point for the Wildcats on the day. The freshman took on Garofolo-Ro and took the first set 6-1. The two would go into a tiebreaker in set two with Monti pulling out the victory, 7-6 (7-3).
Valieriia Kornieva went against Kennedy and fell in straight sets, 7-6, 6-1.
In the final spot,
Emi Callahan fell 6-1, 6-2 to Coburn.
St. John's 4 Villanova 2
Doubles
Emi Callahan and
Maggie Gehrig took the one spot again for Villanova against Bouzgarrou and Gumerova. The sophomores for the Wildcats would lose 6-4.
Jenna Stevens and
Bella Steffen fell 6-0 to Babikova and Gomez.
Singles
Maggie Gehrig took on the one spot again, but fell 6-2, 6-2 to Bouzgarrou.
Miriam Gondorova defeated Gumerova convincingly, 6-4, 6-2 to pick up a point for the Wildcats.
Jenna Stevens match against Sartz-Lunde ended in a DNF. Stevens took the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5) before trailing in the second 6-3.
Freshman
Lauren Monti fell in the third set of her singles matchup. Monti took the first set to Babikova 6-2, but dropped the second in a fight, 6-4. The Villanova freshman lost the third set 6-0.
Valieriia Kornieva competed in the fifth spot for Villanova. Kornieva lost to Gomez in two sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Emi Callahan picked up the second point on the day for Villanova after St. John's DFed.
