6 Reasons Why I Want To Be Hermione Granger

Growing up as the girl with frizzy brown curls, large buck teeth, and an odd desire to read, I more than easily found myself relating to Hermione Granger. For many who do not know (why you may not know I do not understand), Hermione Granger is the heroine of the golden trio of friends from the popular book/film series, "Harry Potter." She is best known for her trips to the library, her intelligence, ambition, attitude, and her ability to take charge in a situation despite the judgement from others around her. She is the HBC a lot of the time throughout the series and it is easy to say that a lot of readers would love to be her. Again, if you’ve never read the books or haven’t seen the movie, let me give you some insight as to why people want to be Hermione Granger.

1. She Is The Smartest Witch of Her Age

Hermione is incredibly intelligent, it isn’t just book smart from all of that time spent in the library, it is intelligent. Hermione Granger comes off as a “know-it-all” because she does know it all. She is intelligent and that helps her to make better emotional decision, that helps her to take the lead, her intelligence helps her better understand everything that is going on around her. Hermione’s intellect allowed her to always seem like she had an advantage over everyone else and she owned her intelligence too.

2. She Is A Brave Little Witch

There is one thing that you have to be to be a Gryffindor and that is brave. Hermione Granger proved time and time again throughout the series that she is brave. Whether is was standing up to that witch of a “professor” Dolores Umbridge or standing to protect Harry Potter from Voldemort, Hermione Granger always allowed her bravery to shine through.

4. She Is Passionate

Overly passionate really. But I admire her passion and her drive. She always stood for what she believed in and if she believed in it, then she was passionate about it. It isn’t brought up in the movies but Hermione did create her own organization at Hogwarts, S.P.E.W., (Students for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare) because she found the treatment of house elves to be gross and wanted to change that. She fought for what she believed in and never let anyone else bring her down.

5. She Is A Great Friend

Hermione combines all the other mentioned characteristics to not only be a great human being but a great friend. She worked with Harry and Ron to defeat Voldemort because not only would it save the wizarding world, but her friend. She stood in front of someone who was believed to be a mass murderer to protect Harry. She is supportive unless you’re trying to avoid homework, and even then she helped Ron with his homework loads of times. She was always there for Harry to remind him what was most important, and to ground him so that he could continue fighting.

6. She Got the Boy

Even if you don’t like Ronald Weasley or think that Rupert Grint is attractive, please refer to the title and the fact that it states, “Why I Want To Be Hermione Granger.”

All in all Hermione Granger is one of a kind and I will always strive to be like her because why not? Who doesn’t want to be an intelligent, brave, passionate friend who ends up winning the boy of her dreams?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
