He calls himself the “wackiest comedian since I Love Lucy.” You may know him from his elaborate use of props, confetti canons, and fog machines. He brought the world Junk in the Trunk and was the highest grossing touring comedian in the '90s. His real name may be Scott Thompson, but to the world he’s Carrot Top.

We’ve all heard Carrot Top stories. Carrot Top’s flaming red locks graced the Tonight Show, and the famous ginger even had his own series on Cartoon Network. For a decade, Carrot Top’s career looked as bright as his mane of hair. But where is Carrot Top today?

Is he underground, as his root-vegetable moniker might suggest? Is he spreading beta-carotene throughout America? Is he hiding in a compost heap somewhere? Where did Carrot Top go

According to him, he's at the top of the world! Today, Carrot Top is living his ginger-headed dreams: he’s hosting a long-term residency at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Vegas. What's even more impressive is that before his current residency, he headlined a 16-year run at the MGM Grand. That’s a whole lot of stand-up. In fact, the "King of Props" performs over 300 shows a year in Las Vegas, with only Tuesdays off. In case you’re curious, here are some more things you probably didn’t know about Carrot Top.

  • He Started Running And Is No Longer Swole AF

Carrot Top isn't just known for his trademark hair, but also especially for his jacked appearance. Other comedians have even notoriously mocked the stand-up entertainer for his muscular build. While it is true that Carrot Top was once swole AF, the man has traded dumbbells for track shoes. Apparently, Carrot Top has started running, which has left him with a leaner physique.

Carrot Top has also sworn off lifting super heavy weights. As Carrot Top puts it himself: "Maybe five years ago, I decided I worked out enough. I quit cold turkey."

  • He Has A Residency In Vegas And A Celebrity Fan Posse

According to his , Carrot Top signed an uber lucrative, long-term deal to perform at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Sin City. The 52-year-old comedian performs about 300 shows a year and has his own posse of fans, including several celebs. Recently Amy Schumer popped by his set, posting: "We laughed so hard the whole show! Our faces hurt." Shania Twain and Jerry Lewis have also reportedly seen his set.

  • His House Is Built With Material From Celine Dion's House

The building company that built Celine's Dion's palatial desert abode also happened to build Carrot Top's house in Vegas. In fact, the company re-purposed many of the materials leftover from the larger job, which means Carrot Top's house has some of Dion's leftover parts in it. These may or may not include the floor tile and kitchen beams.

Apparently, Dion and Carrot Top share home building supplies as well as real estate on the strip: Dion has a critically-acclaimed Las Vegas Residency at The Colosseum at Caesars' Palace.

Carrot Top has been accused by more than one fellow comic, blogger, or fashionista of having had plastic surgery. His response: "I'm sorry that I look good."

Carrot Top denies ever having gone under the knife. On his episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now?, he discusses how comedians who are in good physical shape endure unfair critique: “I get a lot of grief because I’ve always been in shape and I think for comedy in general, they don’t expect comics to be in shape."

He does however, like to use make-up and has declared his blow dryer to be his "best friend."

  • He Believes "Selling Out" And "Making It" Are The Exact Same Thing

For Carrot Top, "selling out" and "making it" are pretty much the same thing. As he himself puts it: "Isn't that kind of why we get into this in the beginning? Don't you want to be popular? Don't you want to get paid?"

He goes on to add in an interview with Esquire: "Not one comic in the world wouldn't want to sell out."

  • He Has An Assistant Named “Porno Jeff”

Carrot Top has an uber-loyal team, and included in that team is his assistant, who goes by the name "Porno Jeff."  Porno Jeff has known Carrot Top for nearly 20 years and worked for him for a decade. Why the devotion to Carrot Top? As Porno Jeff puts it: "His loyalty breeds it."

Carrot Top's production and tour manager, Dan O'Leary, and his prop and sound man, Lee Lorren, have been with him for 20 years with no plans to leave anytime soon.

According to Carrot Top, he's politically independent and has made props satirizing politicians across party lines. His props include both a Hillary Clinton pantsuit and Chris Christie "skinny jean."

When asked whether he'd run for president, he said, "No." Why? He'd have to take a pay cut. His current net worth is roughly $75 million. Carrot Top refers to his dough as "beer money," though.

In the latest installment of SyFy’s Sharknado franchise, Carrot Top is featured in the trailer, being crushed by a shark. Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens also features The Hoff. Carrot Top plays the role of Vegas Driver, who dies as one might expect: by shark. While he's only on the screen for a few perfect moments, everything about it is glorious.

Carrot Top was also recently in CSI, Tosh.0 (in which Tosh gives Carrot Top a full-body massage), The Neighbors and Cash Cab.

  • His Dad Was A NASA Engineer

Carrot Top grew up as the son of a NASA engineer in Cocoa Beach, FL. According to the comedian, he believes his father's background in science helped him develop a knack for inventing stuff. Like his dad, he was also somewhat introverted as a kid. Carrot Top describes himself as shy when he was in elementary school. As a kid he was small, and spent many a recess by himself, playing with his Matchbox cars.

  • His First Job Was Working As A Bank Courier

Carrot Top graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in marketing and immediately got a job as a bank courier. He didn't let his responsibilities at the bank slow down his act, though. He kept doing open mics in Florida and playing gigs. When did he get his "Carrot Top" stage name? Technically, he got the nickname as a young boy, but adopted it into his routine during his third or fourth show in college. Presumably, he didn't use that same handle as a bank courier.

  • He Thinks Comedy Should Feel Like A Rock Concert

The redheaded comedian is known for being a live wire on stage. It's no wonder, then, that Carrot Top thinks comedy shows should feel more like rock concerts. As he puts it: "When I was younger I always thought, 'If I were ever a comedian I'd make it like a rock concert. I wanted to generate that type of enthusiasm and excitement."

Carrot Top's amped-up antics and wacky routines have clearly endeared him to the masses. It was perhaps this hyper-kinetic performance style that won him Funniest Male Stand-Up Comic at the American Comedy Awards in 1994.
