The former Leeds United player believes Monk must be left to run the club.

Former Leeds United midfielder and footballer-turned-actor Vinnie Jones has been speaking about the Yorkshire club on talkSPORT today (07/10/16) as the club continue to improve their current form.

Leeds United have lost just once in their last six games, winning the other five – a run of form that has seen them rise to 11th in the Championship table after what was an initially difficult start.

Jones, famous for appearing in movies such as Snatch and Gone in Sixty Seconds, was of course a very successful footballer before his move onto the silver screen.

He spent 18 months at Leeds after joining from Wimbledon in 1989. Despite a relatively short stint at Elland Road he remains a favourite of the fans and he himself still follows the fortunes of Leeds.

Speaking to talkSPORT today Jones had this to say about the appointment of Garry Monk at Leeds, mentioning striker Chris Wood as key to form:

“One of the best things he’s done the chairman, put Garry up there.

“I’ve told the fans as well, give Garry time. He’s going to organise that place. Just as long as they don’t interfere upstairs I think Garry will get it right, he’s going to bring some great players in. They’ve got the lad Wood there who’s banging in some goals now.

“It’s the best place on the planet to be when things are going well and that full crowd up there. The fans are, and everyone says they are second to none, but they really were to me.”

Leeds United fans are starting to believe in the club’s fortunes under Monk, but the fear will always be that controversial owner Massimo Cellino will somehow mess up what looks like a winning situation at Elland Road.

Hopefully Leeds heed the advice of this famous hardman.
