Today, Joe Jonas’ grooming (and style) game is on point. He’s got that perfect wavy high-fade haircut, a bit of scruff (occasionally a mustache), and his eyebrows are, thankfully, not boy-band groomed. However, like all human beings, Jonas was once a teenager with terrible taste and a predisposition to grooming habits that, looking back, were a little crazy. We’ve all been there.

Last night, at a dinner to celebrate the musician’s long-time support of the Movember Foundation and its collaboration with Birchbox Man (a just-launched Movember survival kit), he told us which grooming moment from his youth he regrets most.

“I have a few hair and facial hair regrets. I had long hair to my shoulders at one point and I would flat-iron my hair so that it would point out. It was like I was an animated character. Someone taught me how to do it and I sort of got addicted to it. As I got older I realized that was kind of an abnormal thing to do.”

In case you’re a little rusty on your Jo-bro hair history, here’s the straight-ironed coif in question. It is fantastic.

Today, Jonas trusts Baxter Finley beard wax, Kiehl’s hair pomade, and Kiehl’s Facial Fuel, to keep his grooming game in check. He’s also working on a Movember mustache, going on tour with his new band, DNCE, and never touching a straight-iron again. Oh, and he's reportedely single too.
