Meadow Street Brothers #2

Boss Daddy's Knots

Rate this book
Boss. Neighbor. Old enough to be Wilkie's dad. Or... Daddy?

When Wilkie discovers his to-be ex cheating on him, he packs and leaves. But he's now homeless, and without a job.

Enter King. Wilkie's too-handsome, too-hot new boss. Who also happens to be his "backdoor neighbor". What that means? Their bedroom windows face each other. Wilkie sees things he shouldn't. And so does King.

When Wilkie discovers his surprise pregnancy by his ex, he's horrified with himself. He needs someone and he doesn't know who to turn to.

King helps him. In King's arms, Wilkie feels safe. In King's arms, Wilkie feels treasured. In King's arms, Wilkie feels like... maybe he's not so tainted by his past anymore.

Despite King's promises, can Wilkie really trust his new Daddy not to walk out on him? Like every other alpha has?

I think I'm not quite in the right headspace atm because Anna Wineheart writes internal struggles just a bit too well and I'm not always ready for that. I have no idea what to rate this and this isn't a review but an unstructured word vomit :)

- Wilkie is struggling a lot to feel worthy and valued. None of his past alphas have made him feel special, they've discarded him and the last one impregnated him against his will during his heat when he couldn't properly consent.
- King in comparison is portrayed as too perfect. Too loving, too patient, too... much.

Wilkie ends up without a home when he sees his boyfriend cheating on him. He goes to stay with a friend (a plot device) who has a father who lives next-door. He takes over her job which is filming YouTube videos for her father (ex-basketball player turned YouTube chef) also plot device because Wilkie had to leave film school and why on earth would his daughter be editing his YouTube videos?

Wilkie and King discover a Daddy-boy dynamic for themselves. And while this was very sweet and sexy they didn't have any kind of safeword (because Daddy knows best...can't find the quote right now)

The unwanted pregnancy

- and the way the closure was dealt with...I need closure:

I was already annoyed by this in the last book: omega = stereotypical woman "you take forever to get dressed" (p. 271) is a wayward comment and I'm disappointed
Edit: I have since learned that this is the norm in Wineheart’s universe so my annoyance is misplaced here.

Wilkie took way too long to understand he was loved. I know it can be a struggle and it was depicted well but 9 months in: "Wilkie let Yaz's words sink in. He'd made King happy? King didn't deny it, so...it was true. His heart lifted." (p. 261)

Some quotes:
"Everything about Wilkie was small. His shoulders, his hands...his cock. It was adorable, fitting perfectly against King's palm." (p. 96)

"Good boy," and Wilkie's heart skipped like it was possessed. (p. 111)

"Let me help you feel beautiful," King murmured, his slow caresses lighting up Wilkie's body. "Let me tie you up like a gift." (p. 142)

✮ (¸.•´Wilkie's Alpha King

"The way I intend to claim you," King murmured, "I will claim this child at the same time."

Panty. Drop!

The first few hours of this book was just plain edging at best. There was no doubt the chemistry that Wilkie and King had with each other. And when they finally, FINALLY got together.... One click and find out!!!! [I always wanted to do that, LOL.]

I enjoy this author and her unique way of writing. And there is no doubt about it, one of her characters are always flawed and finds redemption. For Wilkie, it was his need to feel loved. Along with that, he a major issue cramping his life, one he was always being mocked about. Now he was pregnant and unsure where life will take him. Fortunately, meeting King, ex basketball-er, current YouTuber changes the rules. Once Wilkie became the older widow's employee, all the rules went out of the window.

King was there, through thick and thin and uncertainty. I loved his protective personality and how he willingly accepted Wilkie in all his flaws. Cannot wait for the next exciting episode of the Meadow Street Brothers.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.

I’ll be honest. This is a pretty pedestrian book. I finished it, but it wasn’t a page turner. It felt quite dull at points. So why the 5 stars? Because, finally, finally.... So kudos to Wineheart for dealing with a difficult topic.

Edit: guess I shouldn’t have posted this review before I finished the book. Never mind, Winehart wusses out and goes back to the format of every other mpreg book.

A good addition to the Meadow Street series, especially for fans who love age gap, Daddy/Boy, and a little pain with their pleasure.
Wilkie (Gabe's brother from book one) discovers his boyfriend cheating and leaves, luckily his friend having a room he can stay in and a Dad who has a job wmthat Wilkie can have. King is someone you cannot miss and their attraction sparks straight away, igniting when Wilkie sees his new employer across the garden through both their bedroom windows.....
All King wants to do is care for Wilkie and make him happy but Wilkie is filled with so much negativity about himself, feeling unworthy of the attention especially with the recent words and actions of his ex and the circumstances of his pregnancy. None of this deters King and he sets out to show Wilkie how important he truly is whilst ensuring everything they do is always the younger man's choice including whether to keep his baby.
I did really enjoy this story but didn't connect with the characters as much as I have done on other books. There is a lot of hot action and talking back to keep you entertained and it's interesting reading Wilkie's thoughts on a lot of things. One thing I found odd was about the friend that he went to live with initially and how once he started things with King, we basically don't hear from her until the end of the book even though he basically moves out into her dad's home without a word....?
Still a recommended read for this series and I am looking forward to hopefully getting Dr Rutherford's story soon as he's been slightly involved since the previous series and deserves a HEA.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Tropes and Elements:
- Daddy kink
- Age gap
- Size difference
- Omegaverse and Mpreg
- Hurt/comfort
- Neighbors-to-lovers

4/5.

This was good! Anna Wineheart is a pretty decent writer, I only noticed a few mechanical issues and I was able to get invested into the characters and their perspectives throughout the book. I did have some issues of the overuse, or maybe just misused, dialogue tags. Screaming violently, jumping violently… a lot of the character’s actions were quite intense from the word usage it felt a little unbelievable.

The characters in this book are great. King is a sweet older alpha who gives the best comforts, and Wilkie is an adorable omega who is dealing with a lot of past relationships trouble and a low self-esteem. I can see this being a bit formulaic or predictable in the way the baby and everything was handled, but I love a good hurt/comfort. There was tons of that here. Seriously, King was so patient and such a sweetheart!

However it felt like Wilkie would go from being accepting of their relationship and them jumping again into “but he’ll leave me I know he will!”, which was a bit frustrating. I’m glad it eventually got settled but there was even a break up at the 70% mark, so fair warning. Also there is a very unexpected event about 80% to deal with the ex boyfriend and omfg I did not expect that. Not angry about it, but it was certainly wild and you would think that the characters would be more concerned about it.

The daddy kink was fine! Not the best I’ve read but pretty good. Lots of knotting, rope play, all of that was good smut wise. There was some food kink — but I’ve noticed this is a trend for Anna Wineheart’s books. It’s not my favorite, tbh. I do not find licking mashed potatoes off a dick sexy.

Overall, this gave me the size difference, age-gap hurt/comfort MPREG I wanted. Can’t complain at all!

Oh, poor Wilkie. He really broke my heart a lot of the time. He had to deal with so much crap from all the men who came before, and then his cheating former doucheweasel was just the ugh. I can understand why Wilkie felt the way that he did for a lot of the book.

I'm glad King was the kind of person he was, because he took such good care of Wilkie, and hey, the ropes? Total bonus.

The second book in the Meadow Street Brothers was another interesting addition to the Meadowfalls town setting.

Wilkie has never had luck with any Alpha’s in his past, and this last Alpha, Terance, was the biggest jerk of all. Wilkie walked in on Terance having sex with another man and Wilkie packed and left as quickly as he could. Terance had lied to Wilkie all this time that Wilkie wasn’t the only one in Terance’s life and the man had begged and whine countless times that he finally coherence Wilkie to go bareback during one of his heats.

Terance’s excuse was he didn’t believe that Wilkie was unable to become slick during intercourse; Wilkie was always dry needing lubrication. He couldn’t help it if his body wouldn’t produce slick. Now he’s homeless and without a job because Wilkie had worked for Terance’s dad.

Wilkie needed a place to stay immediately, but he was too embarrassed to call his parents or his brother, so he texted his friend, Yaz, who lived the next street over from his brother’s house, and luckily she had a room for him to stay. His bedroom faced the backyard. Across the backyard was the neighbor’s back bedroom window.

This is when Wilkie gets his first good look at King when the man entered his bedroom with the light on and watched the man undress. King was broad, with large biceps and abs that definitely showed he worked out. Not only was his body hot but he was a gorgeous Alpha as well and he was much older than Wilkie. Wilkie didn’t know King was the father of his friend.

Well, as it turns out his friend, Yaz, her dad was looking for a cameraman and Wilkie had some experience in the field when he had been in film school and the man might just hire him on a trial basis. Yaz had wanted to quit anyway. When Yaz introduces Wilkie, the man is overcome with how tall King was and didn’t know he had been a famous basketball player for the New York Rockets.

These two men seemed very compatible despite the age difference. King knew Wilkie was pregnant right off, but Wilkie was clueless. They worked well together and King’s a sweetheart willing to claim Wilkie and the baby as his own. There was quite a bit of kinky sex too and it was King calling the shots. King just knew Wilkie wasn’t ready for King to take him. Wilkie wasn’t happy that King didn’t think he was ready for penetration. I loved King; he was very loving and caring towards Wilkie who really needed it.

Wilkie’s lack of confidence and self-deprecation of himself, led him to constantly feared King would leave him. Even with all the wonderful things King said and showed Wilkie he still didn’t really trust in the relationship. So, throughout the book, Wilkie fought with his past failures with Alpha’s and his self-doubt that a man like King would find him attractive or interesting enough that the Alpha would stay with him for the long haul; Alpha’s always left.

But King wins Wilkie’s heart and they find their HEA. This is a wonderful book to read and King and Wilkie make a great couple. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced read copy of this book.

Things to like and things not to like

Spoilers ahead......

Ok, there were definitely things I enjoyed about his book. I liked both MC's, although Wilkie could have gotten some more confidence back a little earlier. And I really enjoyed the size difference b/w the 2 MC's but I didn't really see the Daddy/boy aspect of it besides the MC's calling each other Daddy and boy. The set up of the story was pretty good too but was lacking in details.
Ex, how come we didn't get more scenes with Yaz? Living right next door to your Dad who is now boning one of your good friends, you'd think there would be more interaction there. Plus, if Yaz and Wilkie were such good friends, wouldn't he have known who her Dad was, even if he never meet him before.
And we never meet Wilkie's parents until the end, even if they were mentioned before that.
While I enjoyed that the author wanted to give the omega's a choice, I was disappointed with how she went about it. Personal choice I am against abortion unless it was from noncon and super early on. So that made me like Wilkie a little less.
Also, why kill Terance? That seemed super harsh!
He didn't rape Wilkie, and in the end it was totally Wilkie's choice to go bareback, so why put all the blame on Terance? Yeah, ok he cheated and bad mouthed Wilkie but again it's not the end of the world. I'd have handled that part totally differently, the guy didn't deserve to die for being essentially a jerk.
Last thing, what's with all the food play in the sex scenes?!?!? Mash potatoes during a BJ? Excuse me while I throw up in my mouth a little. This is only the second book I've read by this author and they both featured food kink, definitely not my jam.
I know it seemed like there was more bad then good but overall I did enjoy this read.

Ok

This book was made into a daddy/boy book it seems just for the sake of being a daddy/boy book. I loved these characters and they had so much potential, only to then be put into this type of relationship that feels more like a fad daddy/boy, dondage dynamic then a real daddy/boy dynamic. Wilkie came into this realtionshiph after having been abused by pretty much every previous realtionshiph he had and being completely touch starved but then is tied up completely so he can't actually reciprocate during their first "intimate" moment. Though there isn't anything really intimate at all in any of these sex scenes, it's just sex. This type of dynamic is great in a lot of books but so many authors are adding them just for wow or steam and they don't fit the characters or storyline at all, how in the world can I believe that Wilkie is that hurt and lacking in self confidence only to have him be throwing himself at King begging to be tied up? It doesn't work and all those so called intimate moments where just as written" he ramed his c*ck into me" no intimacy or feelings at all. The most intimate moment was really King comforting Wilkie during the second storm. That's not to say King was unloving because he was very loving just not in any sort of believable way with the power dynamic of this book.

When Wilkie discovers his boyfriend cheating on him in their bed he isn't sure where to turn to.
Homeless and jobless he turns to his friend for help. Not only is she able to provide him with a place to stay, but possibly has a job that for him working using his degree that he was working towards before he dropped out. But Wilkie's in for a surprise when he meets his new boss and feels an undeniable chemistry between them. Is Wilkie ready to try and trust another alpha and move on from his tainted feelings his ex has made him feel?
However, there is just one more obstacle for Wilkie and King to overcome...a little surprise that Wilkie's last alpha left for him. Is their relationship ready for the unexpected? Is Wilkie prepared to let King show him that he is an omega worth loving?

I think one of the things I absolutely loved about this couple was that even though King is the alpha of the relationship he still was willing to do whatever would make Wilkie happy and follow along with his decisions. When they also went through their "breakup" King wasn't the kind of alpha who hid what he did or didn't feel. He wasn't afraid to let Wilkie know that he was just plain miserable without him.

Wilkie has once again found himself a bad alpha. This one showing his true colors when he is caught cheating. Wilkie is devasted and heart broken when he calls his friend for help. She brings him to her home and even gets him a job. A job that brings him to another alpha that he is drawn to, but can he ever trust another alpha after what he has been through? Can King really be as good as he seems or will Wilkie be let down by another alpha?

I truly enjoyed Wilkie and King’s story. It is full of emotions and grabbed me right from the start. Their story has quickly become my favorite. Both Wilkie and King are good men. I loved King and seeing the love that he has for Wilkie made for a beautiful read. Watching their relationship begin to grow and take shape was a wonderful thing. The emotions are intense and heavy between the two men. I loved seeing Wilkie grow with the help of King as their bond begins to grow. Their relationship is full of turmoil and will pull at your heartstrings. The author weaves a wonderful story between the two men that had me immersed into the story and eager to see it play out.

I wanted to like this one so much 😖 I'm so sad I couldn't enjoy it as much as the other stories within this world.

I could not connect with the story, the characters, or the plot. I liked King in the small cameo he did in book one, and I loved his friends but his personality in this book was all over the place. I did love his channel with food videos, it was very nice to see the BTS of him making the video. But, his reaction towards Wilkie was arrogant sometimes, overprotective, distant, all over the place really.

Wilkie was also so indecisive, insecure, didn't know what the hell to do with his life. He wanted to be reckless with King but liked it when King dominated him and was frustrated when King didn't. His age was reflected in his personality and his overall lack of decision making and just overall self.

Also, King's daughter was basically at the beginning of the book and then disappear during the rest. It was a lot of sexual scenes/innuendos but very lacking in the relationship department - but that's just me.

The most I enjoyed in this book was King's friends - and I truly wish Nate and Phinny get their happy ever after.

**2.5 Stars

I wasn't really sure how to rate this one. There were some things I really didn't like and there were some things I liked a lot. There was far too much sex and I mean like sex on just about every page, actually I think more sex than story, but I did love Wilkie and King. More of them minus the sex would have been really nice. They had great chemistry together but it got overshadowed by all the bedroom antics. Love shouldn't always equal sex or maybe it's sex all the time doesn't equal love.

I'm kind of on the fence about whether I'm enjoying this series. It's not turning out to be the cute, sweet, mpreg I was looking for and the covers imply. This series has been going into some dark places and I wasn't ready for that. Maybe knowing that will get me into a different mind set as I continue on with it.

TAGS
-- non shifter mpreg -- age difference (23 years) -- kind of on the darkish side -- way too much sex -- love the MCs... Wilkie & King -- there are some sweet moments -- not sure how I'm feeling about this series

I couldn’t really get into this one. Wilkie was first introduced as the brother of one of the leads of the previous book, so I was excited to see him again and get his story. King was also briefly introduced as a friend who lives on the same street. This book is their story. Cheated on by his shitty ex, Wilkie is jobless and homeless and without many options. He doesn’t want to turn to his brother, afraid of being reprimanded, so he stays with a friend, who happens to be King’s daughter. This puts him directly in King’s orbit, and Wilkie finds that it’s a nice orbit to be in. But Wilkie has issues. He’s been used and discarded by alphas before; how does he know that it’ll be different with King? And on top of that, it turns out that he’s pregnant by his shitty ex, which just makes him feel all kinds of low and awful. Honestly, it really felt like there was too much happening in this book, even though it was all fairly straightforward. King and Wilkie fall into a relationship together (maybe a bit too quickly for my tastes, but whatever), and Wilkie has to fight his internal feelings of self-loathing for most of it, and then his complicated feelings about the pregnancy on top of that. King just wants to love him. I found that the story tended to drag a bit, like it was too long. Probably a few of the sex scenes could’ve been cut, which would’ve been fine with me since I didn’t really like them. I started just skimming them at one point because I wasn’t really getting anything out of it. Certainly didn’t help that their odd BDSM/Daddy/boy dynamic didn’t set well with me. But whatever. I did like Wilkie and King, and I did get invested in their back-and-forth fueled by Wilkie’s mental health struggles, but I just couldn’t get into it. I will say that I was surprised that Wilkie’s first reaction to the pregnancy was to try for an abortion; that’s not something you see much at all in romance books. I actually quite liked that storyline, though I was confused that the abortion somehow didn’t work?? And that Wilkie never tried to figure out why? Or try again? Especially since he was so conflicted and practically traumatized at the idea of having his ex’s baby (speaking of the ex, what ended up happening to him later was absolutely ridiculous). Weird all around. There was a lot of hurt/comfort here that I liked, some pining, King and Wilkie being sweet with each other. But overall I can’t say I liked this much, which is a shame because the basic plot is a good one, and I did like seeing Wilkie again.

A must read, Best one yet

This book was worth the wait, I love the relationship between the two men, Wilkie, with all his insecurities, wants, needs to be touched and King with his patience, understanding and his life experience. I could not wait to read their story. There is something in this book we all can relate too one way or another. Beautiful written, the whole series is a must read, waiting for the next book, because once you learn about the people in Meadow falls, you want to hear their stories and how each of them found love. The Author knows how to draw you in and make it seem like you are actually there, she knows how to play your heart strings and make you go thru all the emotions of the characters, right along with them. The Meadow Street brothers will not leave you disappointed.

I absolutely loved King throughout this story. He recognized Wilkie's needs for touch, for affirmation, and for agency very early on and spent the entirety of the book giving each to Wilkie. I loved that in giving Wilkie the freedom to make his own choices, he validated and valued Wilkie as a partner and as a person.

When the conflict happened, King never wavered in that commitment to encourage Wilkie to recognize that he had the ability to make choices for himself, even though it hurt King to do so. That alone showed of his love for Wilkie more than anything else that I can think of. At the same time, I loved that King ensured that Willie was cared for, and safe while giving him room to choose for himself.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A WAKE-UP FOR AN ABUSED AND BROKEN PERSON

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review

Wilkie is an omega that has a sexual secretion problem that all the alphas that he’s been with don’t believe and they treat him poorly because of it. Enter King after the last alpha cheats on him. Making Wilkie find his self-worth is one of King’s missions. The journey is fraught with self-doubt, self-loathing, mistakes and self-incrimination. Love and self-forgiveness are the cure if it can be found. King is a real alpha that helps Wilkie exercise his talents and become a self-sufficient person. There were parts where I laughed and parts where I wanted to cry. Very emotional. A story I can relate to.

Boss Daddy’s Knots is the second book in the Meadow Street Brother’s series by author Anna Wineheart. I loved a lot of things about this book.

I liked the cute titles to the chapters. I also loved the great character connection. I felt very engaged in this book which I loved a lot.

Wilkie and King has a great dynamic. Wilkie is sweet and loveable from the start. King is kind and fair. I liked that King is a leader and very smart. Shows in this story.

I loved how King was willing to help Wilkie no matter what. I also like that King lets Wilkie finally have his own voice in a relationship.

This is a super cute and sweet love story. I loved it. I cannot wait for more from this series in the future.

If you want kinky this is gonna hit that. We've got bondage, daddy-boy, and even food play at one point.

I usually do not enjoy daddy kink but this is done in such a natural way and it starts as a funny thing that grows into a real thing. I didn't have a problem with it.

If you read omegaverse for a caring Alpha and a vulnerable omega then look no further. King is just the best! And Wilkie's got some confidence issues but I didn't feel like it was pushed at us too much. Sometimes authors will have the character be ashamed every other page but Wilkie only has moments here and there.

Taking a star off because King's bedroom dialog could use some more umph. He's a one trick pony when he's enjoying himself and after a couple times just ready "f@#$, boy," got a little annoying.

King and Wilkie….

I literally felt like I was reading this forever, it was short, but I kept stopping. It felt really repetitive…the same thing over and over again. However, I did like some of the plot I guess you could call it. Wilkie was very young and felt very unworthy of basically anything good. I liked how King really wanted to not only be with him, but build him and make him better…not change him, but see his worth, encourage and build his confidence. With that being said Wilkie’s constant up and down and desperation was tedious to keep going through. Anyway, I did like the concept of these two just not how it was executed. But I still plan to read more from this author *insert eye roll here*!

Wilkie had so much baggage and so little self esteem and a lot of insecurities, and it broke my heart. I loved the snippets of characters from previous books. It feels good to stay in touch with them. Willie's ex made me furious! But, revenge and karma were so sweet and heaven sent. I loved the shibari descriptions. They sounded intimate and warm, especially the last scene! The teaser at the end has me anxious and intrigued for the next story. Loved it.💕

I loved King and Wilkes! It was so cute and I was so sad for Wilkes having to go through all those crappy alphas before he finally got to King. This could sound bad, but... Terrance got what he deserved, and it gave Wilkes the chance to move on and truly except their child. I loved that we got to see more of Gage and Ulric even if it was only a little bit and also more of the Meadowfall Brothers and Rutherford. I’m hoping Rutherford will end up with who I think he’ll end up with based on that sneak peek into Rutherfords book at the end!

~~~ I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review ~~~
Love and acceptance
Another great addition to this series.
My heart just broke for poor Wilkie.
All he ever wanted was to be seen, appreciated and loved.
Unfortunately that lead him to make unwise choices concerning his partners.
His self-esteem was in the gutter when he accepted King's offer of help.
The way King took care of Wilkie was so damn sweet.
I loved how comfortable Wilkie felt with King and was able to be his bratty self which in turn brought out all of King's Daddy instincts.
Great addition to the series!
This is a great addition to the Meadow Street Brothers series. I loved King and Wilkie. I loved all of the knot work and inuendoes. Their chemistry was off the charts. I loved that Wilkie's ex got what was coming to him. Poor piano! I also loved the wedding at the end between Gage and Ulric and then right after between King and Wilkie. I loved Wilkie's wedding dress. I definitely recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
What I love most is the struggles and the tension between the two characters. I would say that all aspects are wrapped up nicely … but the side characters will want to draw you in for more.^^ There were some aspects that might have been a little rushed or flat, but something that would stop an interested reader in the whole grand scheme.
Disclaimer: I read this as a stand-alone. Without knowing the other character’s stories or background. However base on the little glimpses that I have seen, they certainly are not flat.
Boss Daddy's Knots by Anna Wineheart is part of the Meadow Street Brothers series and an amazing addition at that. Wilke and King are a perfect mix of hot and sweet - an age gap romance that had angst, humor, and heat. The way King treated Wilke from the beginning to end made my heart happy. Now I just need to wait here anxiously for the next " brother" to find love.
