Aquellos que les interesa y obsesiona el tema, tal como le sucede al propio Halfon que pareciera acechar a los espíritus suicidas que no tuvieron la misma suerte o fortaleza que él. Halfon escribe sobre pintores y escritores pero en el fondo escribe sobre aquellos que están mal, que están solos, que no se atreven".

46 books232 followersEduardo Halfon was born in 1971 in Guatemala City. He studied Industrial Engineering at North Carolina State University, and later was professor of Literature at Universidad Francisco Marroquín, in Guatemala.
In 2011 he received a Guggenheim Fellowship to work on continuing the story of The Polish Boxer, which is the first of his novels to be published in English, by Bellevue Literary Press in the U.S. and Pushkin Press in the U.K.
His novels include Esto no es una pipa, Saturno; De cabo roto; El ángel literario; El boxeador polaco; and La pirueta, which won the José María de Pereda Prize for Short Novel in Santander, Spain. His short fiction has been published in English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Serbian, and Dutch. He has taught literature at Guatemala; in 2007 the Bogotá Hay Festival listed him as one of “39 best young Latin American writers.”

De los autores guatemaltecos actuales, Halfon tiene algunos de los lectores más polarizados: mientras unos lo aman, otros absolutamente lo odian.

Increíble! "Esto no es una pipa" tiene muchas historias relacionadas que convergen a una sola vida y una sola muerte. "Saturno" es una narración hecha alusión a "Carta al padre" de Kafka. Halfon cuenta y cita a tantos autores y pintores que es "leer a tantas voces" en una narración ligera, recreando ficciones en hechos históricos.

Primer libro de Halfon que leí. Escuché al autor en una presentación del libro y corrí a buscarlo. Desde entonces trato de leer todo lo que publica.
De este libro, aunque Saturno es excelente, debo decir que prefiero Esto no es una pipa, por su fondo histórico y la descripción de la bohemia de los artistas de principios del siglo XX.
