The last of the Linux art! Gutsy Gibbon is the release due out in October. I had a hell of a time figuring out how to portray "gutsy." I know bullfighting is unfair and matadors don't need much courage, but I'm not trying to make a statement. This was just the best of my crappy "gutsy" ideas.
I'm not practiced at primates, and don't like drawing them. I don't like this one and almost scrapped it. It's way harder to paint something you don't like very much. Please tell me what you think works well and what doesn't. WANT CRITIQUES!

Wow he got a lot of guts there. I admire his pose its like im not scared..HA!
It does lack your usual dynamic style, but I keep looking at it and can't really think of what's missing.
Thanks for the observation. I neglected to draw a line of action for this one, which I didn't realize until I read your comment. :)
The face is phenomenal, I immediately recognized its species.
Critiques (please dont hurt me D=):
The left arm behind the back needs a little more relaxation in its angle, even for the long limbed gibbon, its kind of an angle stretch.
The right arm seems to be shaded in the opposite direction its bending, giving a confusing depth visual.
The right knee seems a bit too turned out, some linear definition is needed inside as well.
Otherwise its smashing, I love the design idea.

Ah, thanks very much for the critiques!
The worst thing about them, for me, is the fact that the problems are so obvious once someone points them out. Everything you said is spot-on. It made me realize that I have the same anatomy problems with primates that I do with people. *duh*
I'm glad you like the face - I overworked it and was afraid people wouldn't be able to see the eyes.
Thanks again!

Criticism...Kay:
I agree with Tzologeist in that it doesn't look very dynamic (which is a pity, becase there was a lot of potential for swooshiness, given the long-limbed character and the flowing fabric).
Speaking of which, I think it could use a little more love - especially the bottom looks to round and smooth to really give me the impression of thin fabric rather than a solid, red object. Maybe having the fabric come round at the viewer's side of the sheet would help to avoid visual confusion.
That said, it definitely looks very gibbony.

Swooshy: check. I need a lot of work on dynamic composition.
Fabric: I suck! Seriously, I have no idea how to do folds from imagination, and I didn't use any references. Must practice!
So yeah, thanks again. It helps!
