In the original Gossip Girl series, there was one character in particular who, like many of us, was a fiend for drama. And ready or not, she’s making a grand return in the Gossip Girl reboot. That’s right, Georgina Sparks is back and ready to stir up trouble for no apparent reason!
Wait, remind me, who is Georgina Sparks again?
Georgina Sparks (aka Michelle Trachtenberg) is an old frenemy of Serena van der Woodsen (aka Blake Lively) who, throughout the original series, made everyone’s lives a living hell. To name a few examples, she (1) drugged Serena at dinner, causing her to miss the SATs, (2) tried to split up Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf, and (3) dated Jack Bass, which was a bigger deal than it sounds!
It might not be a total surprise to see the Queen of Chaos return for a little reboot action since her son Milo made an appearance in season 1. As fans may recall, Milo is the baby she pretended was Dan Humphrey’s for almost an entire f*cking season. Even though the thought of Dan and Georgina sleeping together made our skin crawl, the extra reveal that the biological father was actually a Russian man named Serge (whom Georgina met on a plane) was also wild.
What is Milo’s deal in the reboot? Is he like Georgina?
In the revival’s fourth episode, titled “Fire Walks With Z,” Milo (Azhy Robertson) suddenly appears next to Zoya (Whitney Peak) while she’s sitting on the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. A little bit later, Zoya joins Milo in his home, where we see a small shrine of Blair Waldorf, a symbol of motivation to keep Georgina Sparks going.
From Milo’s pep talk with Zoya, it seems his mother has passed down some scheming tendencies: “My mom taught me early on that it isn’t enough to go to war,” he says. “Wars never end. What you need is a coup.”
Clearly, Georgina’s spirit lives on through her son, or evil spawn, if you will.
So when is Georgina Sparks going to be on Gossip Girl again?
HBO Max’s Gossip Girl season 2 trailer revealed that Michelle is indeed reviving her role as Georgina Sparks in the new series. It appears that in season 2, Georgina is less focused on the high school drama and more interested in who brought Gossip Girl back from the dead.
We see the OG villain randomly (creepily) appear in Kate’s apartment, saying, “Did you know that you have four weak points of entry and a very pliable super?” Could a social bloodbath be upon us?
It’s clear that Georgina has unfinished business with the Upper East Siders and is going to take some power back. One thing is for sure, wherever there is drama, Georgina is sure to follow. Bless us, father, we have a feeling she’s about to sin!
