Popocatepetl volcano erupts, warning issued to Mexico City

Authorities issued a debris alert for the southern part of Mexico City and nearby towns after the Popocatepetl volcano erupted on March 6, Evening Standard reported citing sources. Mexico's disaster prevention agency said that a plume of ash spewed 1,200 meters into the air prompting authorities to warn nearby residents. The volcano lies 73 kilometers southeast of Mexico City.
