1st appeared in a magazine

Shinchan made its first appearance in 1990 in a Japanese weekly magazine called 'Weekly Manga Action' which was published by Futabasha.

Shinnosuke Nohara

The story revolves around Shinnosuke Nohara, otherwise known as Shin-chan, a 5-year-old kindergartener and his family and friends. Most of the plot is about his daily life and his mischievous behaviour.

Cult favourite

An animated television adaptation began airing on TV Asahi in 1992 and is still ongoing on several television networks worldwide. The show has been dubbed into 30 languages and aired in 45 countries, making it a cult favourite.

Is it an anime?

Crayon Shinchan is a Japanese manga series. Manga is a broad term that includes Japanese graphic novels and comics, whereas anime is a term for Japanese animation (movies and TV shows).

Yoshito Usui

Following the death of author Yoshito Usui, the show in its original form ended on September 11, 2009. A new series began in the summer of 2010 by the members of Usui's team, titled 'New Crayon Shinchan.'
