Gantry Crane

Gantry cranes are a type of crane built atop a gantry, which is a structure used to straddle an object or workspace. Gantry cranes for marine application are imposing, multi-story structures prominent at most container terminals, used to load intermodal containers on and off container ships. They can range from these enormous “full” gantry cranes, capable of lifting some of the heaviest loads in the world, to small shop cranes, used for tasks such as lifting automobile engines out of vehicles. They are also called portal cranes, the “portal” being the empty space straddled by the gantry. The terms gantry crane and overhead crane (or bridge crane) are often used interchangeably, as both types of crane straddle their workload. The usual distinction drawn between the two is that with gantry cranes, the entire structure (including gantry) is usually wheeled (often on rails). By contrast, the supporting structure of an overhead crane is fixed in location, often in the form of the walls or ceiling of a building, to which is attached a movable hoist running overhead along a rail or beam (which may itself move). Further confusing the issue is that gantry cranes may also incorporate a movable beam-mounted hoist in addition to the entire structure being wheeled, and some overhead cranes are suspended from a freestanding gantry.

EOT Crane

The EOT Crane moves over the rails placed on the top of crane runway or Gantry Girders. The crane mainly comprise of bridge girder made from rolled sections such as I beams / U beams or fabricated box section. The bridge girder is supported on two end carriages, each housing a pair of wheels. The wheels are driven by motor gearbox units. A wire rope hoist is suspended below the bridge girder. The crane can be operated through pendent station hanging from wire rope hoist or through radio remote control. The pendent station can be made to move independent of hoist movement as per customer’s choice. The wire rope hoist comprise of rope drum made from seamless tube. Grooves are machined on rope drum for proper support to the wire rope. Cast Iron rope band and guide prevents wire rope jumping from grooves. The hoisting drive arrangement comprises of motor coupled to an oil lubricated, spur / helical gearbox that in turn provides the motion to the rope drum. An electromagnetic fail safe brake prevents accidental lowering of load in the event of power failure. Limit switch is provided to prevent over hoisting of hook block. Additional limit switch can also be provided to prevent over lowering of hook block.

Derrick Crane

A derrick crane is a lifting device usually composed of mast (frame or tower) and lifting arm. There are three or four lines connecting the mast to the lifting arm, which controls it goes up and down. To lift a load, a separate line runs under the lifting arm with a hook as the hoisting mechanism. This heavy duty crane facilitates the handling of marble blocks at the quarry. It’s Rational Structure i.e. Boom, Central Mast and Rafters are made out of heavy duty structural steel frame work, duly stress relieved. The base of Central Mast is fixed to the hoist unit, which in turn rotates on specially designed thrust bearing, anchored to the Central Foot by means of bolts, grouted in concrete foundation or rock. The Hoist unit comprises of special crane duty motor, connected to variable speed reducers and helical gear box, duly coupled to a grooved steel drum. Hydro-thruster brakes are used to control the smooth lifting of weight.
