With a new wife and a new movie coming out, Kevin Zegers has a lot to be excited about.

The actor, 28, married his longtime girlfriend, talent agent Jaime Feld, Saturday in New Jersey, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“Six days and counting,” Feld Tweeted earlier in the week, while Zegers wrote, “Now off to the wedding festivities. #lifechangingweek” on Thursday.

The pair got engaged last April in Muskoka, Ont., while vacationing with Feld’s family, including her parents, brother and sister-in-law, whom Zegers had flown in for the special occasion.

“I took Jaime out for a walk in the morning with our dog and went down to the beach and proposed,” Zegers said at the time. “We’ve been together for six years, so I’ve been through a lot with her.”

Zegers admitted to PEOPLE in July that he did very little of the wedding planning. It was “95 percent her, 5 percent me,” he said. “I got my tuxedo, and helped her with the flowers a little bit.”

With a guest list of 250, it’s likely that there was a lot more to do, including planning the one-week honeymoon. Upon his return, Zegers will begin filming the next installment of The Mortal Instruments.

Adapted from the popular young adult novels, Zeger plays the role of Shadowhunter Alec. The first of the series The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, opens Aug. 21.
