One of my favorite painters of all time is Marc Chagall. His work has inspired my life for so many years. The beauty in Chagall’s color and design truly makes him one of the most unique painters ever. He was able to unite several thematic ideas into one painting and make it possible to “keep up” and not get confused or distracted. I find his work as a direct continuation of Vincent Van Gogh and none more than his painting The Concert.

Written in 1957, at the age of 70, Marc Chagall painted The Concert. The beauty in color is a direct continuation, in my opinion, of Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Painted almost 70 years after Van Gogh’s masterpieces, Mr. Chagall further deepens the atmosphere by bringing energy and detail to the canvas. Even though there is great calm in several areas, one does feel the pressure of the red color, bringing a wave of forceful energy, perhaps trying to “occupy” the serenity of the blue colors.
