Hubble Space Telescope turns 30 this year

The Hubble Space Telescope turned 30 this year, and for the occasion, it is sharing dozens of newly processed Hubble images featuring dazzling galaxies, sparkling star clusters, and ethereal nebulae. All of them can be seen through backyard telescopes. Some of them can also be spotted with binoculars or even the naked eye. Lets take a look at few of them:

In pic: This Hubble image captures Caldwell 78 (or NGC 6541), a globular star cluster roughly 22,000 light-years from Earth.

    Double Cluster in Perseus

Caldwell 14 is popularly known as the Double Cluster in Perseus. These two bright open clusters, also called NGC 869 and NGC 884, appear side by side, about halfway between the bright stars in the constellations Perseus and Cassiopeia.

    Caldwell 2 or NGC 40

This hazy Hubble image captures a portion of the planetary nebula Caldwell 2, or NGC 40. A shell of gas is expanding outward from the nebula’s central star, which has reached the final stage of its life.
