The New Hyde Lounge at Staples Center Is the Poshest Way to Watch a Lakers Game

The busy nightlife brand has a big new sports-focused playpen

It’s gearing up to be a big year for the Staples Center, as both the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers (not to mention the Kings and Sparks) look to push things to the next level this season. The Lakers and Clippers should be among the most watched teams in all of the NBA when opening games start later this month, and now Downtown’s crown jewel sports arena has a new space to catch all the action thanks to the folks at Hyde.

Hyde, the popular SBE-owned nightlife brand, has restaurant, lounge, and club locations across Los Angeles and beyond, and has had their space at Staples Center for a decade. During the offseason the 4,000 square foot space underwent a significant remodel, reemerging with plush velvet and leather couches looking down on the action in addition to the usual C-suite level stadium seats.

Inside, chandeliers and a dark marble bar corral the action around several televisions split across two different spaces. There’s VIP seating for 100 as well as each suite that holds 40 people, though the build-out itself is designed so be modular so that it can open all together for larger parties of 200 or more. As with all Staples Center operations, Levy Restaurants is handling the food, while SBE and building owners AEG control the space.

The redone Hyde lounge is now open for NBA preseason games, and will be available for all NBA, NHL, WNBA, and concerts moving forward. Premier events will require a Hyde Society membership for access, though normally anyone can get in by contacting SBE or Staples Center directly.
