Nintendo has made it clear that they have no plans to share the new voice actor behind Mario and Luigi’s voices in Super Mario Bros. Wonder before the game launches. Time and time again, they’ve said fans can look forward to finding out who handles the voices when the game arrives on Oct. 20th, 2023.

Fans have been going hands-on with Super Mario Bros. Wonder ahead of launch thanks to a retail demo available at pretty much every big-name retailer. Surprisingly, it appears someone has gotten some incredible hands-on access to this demo, to the point that they’ve done some datamining on it. That has resulted in a list of voice actors in the game, and it seems we might know who’s handling Mario and Luigi.

First up, here’s a list of voice actors that have been spotted in the datamined information from the Super Mario Bros. World demo.

Over on Famiboards, MondoMega has gone through an incredible amount of work to decipher just which actor belongs to each role, and they’ve come up with the following information:

  • by process of elimination, it seems Mick Wingert is handling Mario and Luigi
  • Samantha Kelly, Kenny James and Caety Sagoian are here; the latter two are reprising their usual roles
  • Yoshi and Daisy appear to have been recast
  • we still don’t know who voices Nabbit

Just to add a bit of context here, if Mick Wingert is indeed the voice of Mario and Luigi, it wouldn’t be a surprise. Wingert has done a lot of high-level voice acting before, bringing to life Master Po and Zeng in Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, as well as Iron Man in various Marvel productions. He also does additional voice-over work in Kung Fu Panda, Mass Effect 2, Murdered: Soul Suspect, The Technomancer, and The Princess and the Frog.

Again, this is just speculation based on a list of names pulled from the Super Mario Bros. Wonder demo, but it’s definitely well researched. I guess we’ll have to hold out 8 more days to see what the truth is!

UPDATE: In a statement to IGN, Mick Wingert said that while he can neither confirm nor deny his involvement in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, “he can confirm that he is NOT voicing Mario.”

How the heck do you data mine a demo?!?

This seems like a serious clickbait if I've seen one.

@socar

The same way you datamine anything; extract the files and pore through data. This is not that crazy of a concept.
