Religion often turns ugly when superstitions and politics blend in it. Daniel’s Diary is a narrative by Father Daniel who was haunted by the monster made up of religion, superstitions and politics.
He witnessed how an ordinary girl fall victim of the situation and how a goddess died in the hands of men.

Indranil Sarkar, was born on the 3rd of December 1975 in Kolkata . He completed his graduation from St. Xavires College with a Post graduate Diploma in Computer Application from Jadavpur University. He began his filmic career as a Cinematographer in documentaries and short films. His first directorial venture was ‘The Worker – for a Drop of Honey’ (2005), a documentary based on the work-relativity between honey-bees and human honey collectors in the Sunderbans. This was followed by several documentaries , fictions and experimental films namely ‘Utopic Assassin’ in (2006)based on Narcotics and third world economy, ‘Embryonic Journey’ (2007) , ‘Living among the Tides’ (2009), ‘He She It’(2011), ‘Coin-Age’(2013), ‘The Beats of Gratification’(2014), 'RGB'(2015), ‘The Rhythm of Life’(2016), ‘In the name of Love’ and ‘Mayajol ‘ in 2017 . ‘Daniel’s Diary’ (2018) is his first feature film based on the controversy between Religion and Politics. ‘The Turning point’(2019) is docu-feature on Irom Sharmila Chanu the Iron lady of Manipur . This is the only and the first film where Irom spoke for herself . Many of the above mentioned films were internationally acclaimed and bagged several national and international awards in their respective years of production.
Beside directing films Indranil works as a Director of Photography in regional feature films. His primal interest lies in exploring the environmental concerns, socio- economic dynamics and cultural practices of urban and rural India through his films.
Daniel's Diary is the story of the dark part hidden behind the brightness of a developing society .
