The Ukrainian Famine and Genocide (“Holodomor”) Memorial Day falls on the fourth Saturday of November.

The Holodomor refers to the 1932–33 famine that killed millions in Ukraine. The famine arose because of rapid Soviet industrialisation and collectivization of agriculture. This extermination was cynically planned and implemented by Joseph Stalin’s criminal regime. 2022 marks 90 years since this genocide. Traditionally, on the fourth Saturday of November, at 16:00, Ukrainians all over the world light a symbolic candle of remembrance, honoring the victims of the most horrible tragedy in the history of Ukraine.
